NDIS
NDIS is an Australian national funding scheme being rolled out across the disability sector. NDIS offers an information and referral service to any Australian with any level of disability, including access to specialist disability support services.
If your child is eligible for NDIS, you will receive an NDIS plan with funding to purchase the services and aids your child needs to achieve your goals and optimal independence.
You can decide whether to manage the funds yourself (“self-managed”) or you can have a third-party company manage it for you ("plan-managed").

PLEASE NOTE: Joyful Journey OT is unable to see clients with NDIA-managed plans. If this is you, please contact us for further support.

Medicare
The Chronic Diseases Management Plan (CDM) is a Medicare-rebated funding program for people who have chronic medical conditions (classified as a condition that has been present for at least 6 months).
It consists of 5 (maximum) rebates per calendar year for Allied Health services (ie. Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy and Psychology). If you are accessing more than one type of therapy you are entitled to share the CDM sessions across the therapists (ie. not 5 rebates per service).
If eligible your GP will complete the required paperwork and give the form to you to bring into the clinic. You are then entitled to claim under this program provided your GP has registered your plan with Medicare.
If your child is eligible for Medicare funding, it is advised that the plan be in place prior to commencing therapy. Because Joyful Journey OT charges more than the Medicare amount, full payment will need to be paid by the parents and then the rebate can be claimed through medicare.

Private
At any time, any client is able to access occupational therapy at Joyful Journey OT using private funds. Additionally, those with private health insurance may be elligbe for a rebate from their insurer. Generally, allied health services will need to be included additionally on a policy to be covered and coverage varies between insurers. Therefore, we recommend that you contact your Private Health Insurer to find out if you are covered and what your rebate will be.
